How to uninstall Adobe Bridge CS5?

    Hi,

I want to uninstall Adobe Bridge CS5, but continue using the other CS5 products, such as Photoshop. As we all know, the installer doesn't give you the option of choosing to install Bridge or not, it just installs it. And we also know the fact that it doesn't have an uninstaller, so has to be un-installed manually. Before I tried using Revo Uninstaller Pro to uninstall it, but I ended up messing up all my CS5 programs, so I would appreciate some help in uninstalling this useless (for me) application.

    Thanks,
    Slasher

i don't think you can get rid of it. well, not easily anyway.

it's probably best to just leave it installed...

I don't care if it takes me an hour to uninstall it, I just want to remove it in anyway possible. I'm determined, ready, and pumped (lol).

why is it such a problem for you?

it hardly takes up any space on your drive.

have you tried just deleting the program folder(s)? although you may break photoshop in the process...

If I can remember correctly, yes, it did break Photoshop.

I do a search for (specifically) anything Adobe Bridge/AdobeBridge/Bridge CS5 and Mini Bridge/MiniBridge. I then WinRAR / zip up the folders found and dump the originals. I then do the same in the registry, backing up and deleting the relevant keys (Wish I'd kept a list now!).

It's the same routine every time I do a fresh install of PS or my system. Currently running PS CS5 (up to date) and an Illy 5.1 trial with no problems whatsoever.

You used to be able to block the install of , or get an option to deny, several components in CS4 but it doesn't seem to work quite right in the CS5 versions.

I've found that if you opt not to install the Adobe Drive a few of the "essential" pieces don't get installed so I usually let that install and just remove it when the install has finished.

A link to Ilemoned.com regarding lightening CS4, it shows you what the essentials are for PS to run. Seems to apply equally to CS5 as well. Although CS5 doesn't save "installers" in the installer folder in the way that it used to.

I also remove all the "foreign language" files, fonts, folders, etc..
I just drop this list of "non-English GB & US" names into locate 32 and specify to search through the Programs folders only:
    Code:
    af_ZA,am_ET,ar_AE,ar_BH,ar_DZ,ar_EG,ar_IN,ar_IQ,ar_JO,ar_KW,ar_LB,ar_LY,ar_MA,ar_OM,ar_QA,ar_SA,ar_SD,ar_SY,ar_TN,ar_YE,ar-SA,be_BY,bg_BG,bg-BG,bn_IN,ca_ES,ca_ES_PREEURO,cs_CZ,cs-CZ,da_DK,da-DK,de_AT,de_AT_PREEURO,de_BE,de_CH,de_DE,de_DE_PREEURO,de_LU,de_LU_PREEURO,de-DE,Deu,el_GR,el_GR_PREEURO,el-GR,en_BE,en_BE_PREEURO,en_BW,en_HK,en_IE,en_IE_PREEURO,en_IN,en_MT,en_NZ,en_PH,en_SG,en_VI,en_XM,en_ZA,en_ZW,es_AR,es_BO,es_CL,es_CO,es_CR,es_DO,es_EC,es_ES,es_ES_PREEURO,es_GT,es_HN,es_LA,es_MX,es_NA,es_NI,es_PA,es_PE,es_PR,es_PY,es_SV,es_US,es_UY,es_VE,es-ES,et_EE,et-EE,eu_ES,eu_ES_PREEURO,fa_AF,fa_IR,fi_FI,fi_FI_PREEURO,fi-FI,fo_FO,fr_BE,fr_BE_PREEURO,fr_CA,fr_CH,fr_FR,fr_FR_PREEURO,fr_LU,fr_LU_PREEURO,fr_XM,Fra,fr-FR,ga_IE,ga_IE_PREEURO,gl_ES,gl_ES_PREEURO,gu_IN,gv_GB,he_IL,he-IL,hi_IN,hr_HR,hr-HR,hu_HU,hu-HU,hy_AM,hy_AM_REVISED,id_ID,is_IS,it_CH,it_IT,it_IT_PREEURO,it-IT,ja_JP,ja_JP_TRADITIONAL,ja-JP,kk_KZ,kl_GL,kn_IN,ko_KR,kok_IN,ko-KR,kw_GB,lt_LT,lt-LT,lv_LV,lv-LV,mk_MK,mr_IN,ms_BN,ms_MY,mt_MT,nb_NO,nb-NO,nl_BE,nl_BE_PREEURO,nl_NL,nl_NL_PREEURO,nl-NL,nn_NO,no_NO,om_ET,om_KE,pa_IN,pl_PL,pl-PL,ps_AF,pt_BR,pt_PT,pt_PT_PREEURO,pt-BR,pt-PT,ro_RO,ro-RO,ru_RU,ru_UA,ru-RU,sh_YU,sk_SK,sk-SK,sl_SI,sl-SI,so_DJ,so_ET,so_KE,so_SO,sq_AL,sr_YU,sr-Latn-CS,sv_FI,sv_SE,sv-SE,sw_KE,sw_TZ,ta_IN,te_IN,th_TH,th_TH_TRADITIONAL,th-TH,ti_ER,ti_ET,tr_TR,tr-TR,uk_UA,uk-UA,vi_VN,zh_CN,zh_HK,zh_MO,zh_SG,zh_TW,zh_TW_STROKE,zh-CN,zh-TW,

You, of course, may require some or all of these.

Obviously(!!!) you made a back-up/system restore point before you started removing things didn't you?? :) :) :)

    Nice informative post, fimble

Adobe Bridge, if not needed, is restrict-able during installation . While installing photoshop/illustrator/any other adobe program, a page comes with "install options" before the actual installation starts . At that page, in the right hand pane, there is a list of additional adobe applications to be installed ... like bridge, air, media player and fonts . All these are checked by default . If you uncheck the application that you dont need, it will not be installed . So , the best way to avoid bridge is to avoid it during installation .

As I said before, the CS5 installer does not give you the option to not install Bridge, it will ALWAYS install Bridge with, for example, Photoshop. No exceptions.
