Visual BCD Editor for Windows 7/Vista

Visual BCD is an advanced GUI version of Windows bcdedit utility.

It is the first GUI utility to implement full editing of the BCD store.

No more mystery behind the BCD store. The user can see and edit every detail in a well known explorer like structure.

The power of bcdedit by simple clicks and keystrokes. To create a new Windows 7/Vista/XP/VHD Loader just do a simple click.

Create boot sector(Linux, Ubuntu, Mac OS X) Loader one click plus extraction of MBR or PBR with dd utility for Windows.
Now with automatic creation of missing Windows 7/Vista/XP/VHD loader entries (since version 0.9.2).

The user can create and change the value of more than 120 properties of BCD objects by simple edits. Other similar utilities like VistaBootPro and EasyBCD give access to not more than 30 properties.

All used constants, names, objects and elements are as defined by Microsoft. That means 100% compatibility.

Visual BCD Editor works om UEFI/EFI

More and more users confirm that Visual BCD Editor works on EFI.
So it seems that it is today the only GUI tool to be able to edit BCD on EFI/GPT.

The option for repair of boot sectors/MBR has no meaning on GPT disks.
The boot sequence on EFI/GPT is:
firmware -> fw boot manager -> Windows 7/Vista boot manager -> and usual boot sequence continuation as for BIOS boot.

On EFI/GPT the role of MBR/PBR has been replaced by firmware boot manager.
I am not sure if this would lead to less boot problems as some important fw parameters are stored in NVRAM which are also stored in BCD. The OS syncs NVRAM and BCD whenever {fwbootmgr} object is changed/edited.

So we have the NVRAM parameters on 3 places which have to be in sync:
    NVRAM
    BCD
    HKLM\BCD00000000

I noticed another level of caching in Windows 8 CP but I am not 100% sure for now and some testsing scenario has yet to prove this. (Some changes in BCD require a reboot to become effective).
