HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection Software Necessary?

    Hi,

I'm about to clean re-install my laptop and am currently getting all the drivers for it again. Now I am curious about one thing. I have this HDD ST9500420AS Momentus 7200.4 SATA 3Gb/s 500-GB Hard Drive | Seagate and according to HP, my laptop Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dv6-2020ev Entertainment Notebook PC - HP technical support (Middle East - English) has 'HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection', "provides protection for the hard drive by "parking the heads" if the notebook is accidentally dropped, or is abruptly impacted by another object." Now that's all good, but when getting the drivers from the HP website for my notebook, it lists 'HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection' as a software to download for this feature. My question is, would I need to install this software to get the feature to work, or would it work without the software.
