how to install msn onto windows 7

HELLO ALLL!!! yes, i have found out to install msn onto windows 7! yay
(well it worked for me, twice, so i have no idea why it wouldnt work for you guys if it doesnt)

no more configuring anything, or any complicated things

so after 3 hrs of looking for a torrent which happening to be a dead one, i managed to find a live one aaannndd it works

sadly the download rates are super slow cause there is only one person seeding it, but if you want the link is

    > DOWNLOAD : Windows Live Messenger 2009 (build 14 0 8064 206) by hk-47 Torrent <

or if you want, u can find a better torrent site, the thing u need to DL is

    > Windows Live Messenger 2009 (build 14 0 8064 206) by hk-47 <

or if u give me your email adress i can email it to you

what happens is this, you download the 3 files....

    >messenger.msi
    >contacts.msi
    >Apatch.exe

thatss all u need, you read the readme, install everything, (Apatch is optional, it just deletes the adds and allows u to run more than one msn at once and stuff)

then it works how ever you cannot minimize it to the taskbar thingo, but ive figured that out to (gee nick ur just awsome)

to minimize it to the task bar thingo, just find the msnsgr.exe thingo (sorry im in a hurry got a SAC to revise for), should be in
    > C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger <

then u make it compatible with vista, by rite clicking, properietes and then going to compatibality then yeah, select vista then it will work...

if u need any help or want me to email u the files email me at

Thanks for posting a problem and a solution you found for it...another suggestion here would be to use Windows Live Essentials -> Essentials - Windows Live
You can choose messenger from the installer...

Im confused, is this referring to Windows Live Messenger? If so you dont need a torrent for it, just go to Essentials - Windows Live, download the installer and choose the programs you want to install from the installer.

I think the OP went to the torrents first to get MSN Messenger...

You can select what you require from the installer.

It seems you have made a simple thing very complicated.Oh well...that's what these forums are for.I'm sure all us still or have made things more complicated than it needed to be.

The OP posted on another thread on here about trying to get MSN Messenger working, and more than a few people stated that they had similar problems. Laughing without knowing the whole picture only makes *you* look like the fool.

@nik3kin - Be sure to scan your machine thoroughly - many torrent 'leaks' of MSN Messenger are in fact disguised Trojans and Backdoor hacks that will try to steal your password and IM bomb your friends. Also, I have never had a single issue with MSN messenger on any build through 7100 - the only thing I found was having to run the actual program (not the installer) with Vista compatibility so minimizing it places it in the tray only, and not on both tray and taskbar. I'd suggest uninstalling what you have (and there is no need for a contact.msi it is all packaged as on complete download when grabbing it from Windows Live site) and trying it again. If it is still giving you errors, then use the help feature to contact M$ to figure out why you're getting the error - or else post the error message here (screen shots are your *and* our friends) and we can figure out why the official build is not working.

@Everyone - FWIW, I have both MSN Messenger and Messenger+ working like a champ on Windows 7, and have always had no issues - but I also don't use anything like VPN software from Cisco or anything like that....

Hi, I uninstalled msn like u said and only installed messenger but it didnt work unless i had contacts.msi installed as well, please...my school made me get an Acer TravelMate 4720 >< biggest waste of 2K ever. and with the taskbar thing, sorry im in a hurry to revise for a SAC, mine goes down to where the speaker icon is next to the time and date, and if u rite click on the msn icon where the internet and WMP icons are near the start menu and click pin to start menu or taskbar then it should stay there i hope thats wat i did for a few programs
