Anyone running Windows Server 2008 R2?

I've been using it for the last month or two and very pleased. It feels more stable to me. I just enabled 'Desktop Experience' feature and the theme service and BAM, I have a (more stable) version of Windows 7.

    This is from another site:

... Server 2008, but you had to create two registry keys and then turn on
    the service.

In R2 RC, the service is not there.

    Loving server 200R2

I am loving it, just seems a little smoother than what 2008 with SP2 does...

Screeny included. I like a server that runs well and looks good :)

Server 2008 R2 is based on the W7 core, whereas Server 2008 is based upon Vista. More than a few users said Server 2008 was what Vista should have been, and I am inclined to agree - however, it is natural that with the major upswing in positive reviews W7 has over Vista the Server 2008 R2 will have some over Server 2008.

That being said, I have not installed it - yet. I plan on dusting off an older P4 machine and refurbishing it to see how W7 runs on it - and then I will try R2.

Actually its the complete opposite way around. The kernels were fused with the release of Windows Server 2008 which came preloaded with SP1. The kernel was replaced with the release of SP1 which means Server 2008 is not based off Vista, Vista is based off Server 2008. Their service packs were joined together. The only difference between the two now is outside of the obvious "server features" is nothing more than configuration. Server comes as a barebone OS so a lot of people who buy preconfigured OEM machines from HP have all the bloated software installed and thus have the impression that their OS is slow.

Hopefully your Pentium 4 is 64-bit. My grandpas P4 with HT @ 2.80GHZ was a x86 instruction set CPU only. The Pentium Extreme is 64-bit i believe.
