    Revo-Uninstaller

    Hi Guys

I was trying to trace a small issue with my pc and narrowed it down to the latest java 7 so I went about uninstalling that to roll back to the previous version.I fired up Revo to uninstall via the aggressive mode, the default installer ran then the registry search by revo which found 18 related leftover registry files which I deleted then the leftover file scan which found 8 files.
I deleted these stupidly without studying them and that seemed to be the end of it.
It was then I checked the recycle bin to clear out those 8 files and noticed none where related to Java but all were google updater files including the updater.exe related to the only google product I have which is chrome.
Needless to say chrome would no longer update from the about google chrome tab.
Luckily for me I hadnt emptied them from the recycle bin so restored the and alls well again, but this is the first time ive seen Revo make a mistake on my systems.

Anyone seen this before as its damaged my trust in that program a little now.

    Do not blame Revo

    Hi Danny!
Please do not blame the software!
Because you have used aggressive scan, so the program used wider probability of finding the right keys for deletion. And as Revo user you know that you can install programs by Revo too, in that case the uninstaller would record all changes made to your system and in case of deletion, would delete only stuff it has logged. Second point would be that prior to do any changes to your system uninstaller would create restore point and full registry backup, so that you have double ability to restore your system. Thanks...

Yes you have to be careful with Revo especially in its aggressive mode. One recent uninstall tried to remove registry entries for Intel Matrix Manager, totally unrelated to the program I was uninstalling. I think the lesson is check everything carefully before deletion just as you would with any other cleaner.

Couldn't agree more with you both.

It was the pure shock factor.Used it for ages and love the program but this is the first time its made an error at least for me.The key word here I think is "complacency".You presume as its worked well for you previously everything will be ok.

@Mindinka - Yes the restore point and reg backup is a great feature of Revo allowing for mistakes to be rectified. No ones invincible.

@Kadu - Check everything seems like good advice and NEVER get complacent. Interesting you had the same issue with it finding unrelated entries.Like I said its never happened to me before and now two instances in one day.

    Still a great product though

    Thanks Guys
