SQL Server 2008 R2 Uninstall

I'm trying to completely uninstall SQL Server 2008 R2 from my development machine, unfortunately not virtual.

I've followed the instructions at the MS TechNet site below
How to: Uninstall an Existing Instance of SQL Server (Setup)

However, there still appear to be vestiges of the of the program because when I reinstall the program it uses the parameters of the previous install.

Here's the background.
Previous machine did a clean install of the full version of SQL Server it included SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and all the bells and whistles, but it seemed like it was running this or that. So, on a new image I decided to run SQL Server Express because I figured it was a light weight and probably wouldn't run as many back ground processes. Problem was that the Express version didn't load the SSMS. So I decided to install the full SQL Server on my machine. The only problem now was that the full install didn't install SSMS. I checked the path used by other machines and verified that SSMS wasn't installed in the same place as other machines.

I would like to completely uninstall SQL Server and start over. I've followed the instructions above, and reinstalled and still no SSMS. I've tried to use the "repair" function of the install disk, no SSMS. I've used "Revo Uninstaller" and "CCleaner" to help getting rid of left over registry stuff, still no SSMS when reinstalling.

I was thinking about using the link instructions above and then using a registry editor to look for SQL anything and deleting it. Would appreciate help getting rid of this thing so I can do a clean install. I'd like to avoid a new image since that takes so much time to set up.

Yes, I am using the same install media on the new machine as the previous machine, so I know when a new machine gets the full version of SQL Server it should load with SSMS.

Appreciate any help,
