    Photoshop CS4 stopped working

    Hello,
Recently while I am working with Photoshop (CS4 64-bit) the window appears saying "Photoshop has stopped working". Once the program crashes I can't re-open it because the same "stopped working" windows appears on start-up. I haven't been using any other software but the same problem twice appeared with MS Word.
I bought computer 2 weeks ago so I don't want to re-install Windows after such short time.

This problem seems to appear after I installed Wacom Intuos 4 tablet. I tried to uninstall Wacom drivers and install older ones but it didn't seem to have effect or I didn't uninstall all Wacom drivers. I is hard to say coz Device manager often doesn't show all Wacom drivers installed.

Do you have any suggestions to this problem?

If this problem is happening with Word and now CS4 that's an indication with an impending problem with the system. If the system is still under warranty you might have the service department look it over.

By the way what version of Word are you using?

Also can you provide us some system specs?

    Thanks.

OK, what about the issue with Word? If he's having problems with both Word and Photoshop that says something else is going on.

BTW this link Troubleshoot fonts | Photoshop CS5 is for CS5, he's using CS4. On the flipside there wasn't a 64-bit version of CS4 so.....

    FYI
    CS4 installs both 32 & 64 bit on 64 bit systems :)

I have Adobe Design Premium CS4 and it ships with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Photoshop, but the other applications in the suite are just 32-bit versions. I realise the link was for CS5, but the information in it is good for CS4 too.

Hmmm.... the only Photoshop I knew had 64-bit was CS5, which I have. I'll have to do my research. OK I got it - Adobe Photoshop CS5 (Compare with previous editions link)

    Well shut me up

    Sorry

    OK

    Completely disconnect the Tablet

Go into safe mode - Uninstall the drivers

Download and run Revo uninstaller free

Re-boot the system and download and install the newest drivers. (alternatively use the drivers from the disk that came withthe hardware, in case this is a special version)

    re-connect the tablet

Hey, my system is Windows 7 64-bit, I tried to to make Photoshop preferences default but I couldn't find the specific files which were mentioned in Adobe page. Anyway, I deselected Type: font preview size in the Photoshop. Then uninstalled all Wacom drivers. Also updated Photoshop. I tested the program and it didn't stop working.
Then I reinstalled the Wacom drivers from the CD given. After that the Photoshop preferences went back and I had to change them again. I tested the program with Wacom and it seems to work fine. I'm not sure if it will continue working because after I installed Wacom for the first time the program stopped working only after 2 days.
Thank you very much for your advices :)
