Are you looking for a free program or paid version ? Personally I use Kaspersky Internet Security. Normally is available on Amazon or buy.com for about $20-25. Visit the Kaspersky.com site for a free 30 day trial.
I use ESET NOD32 antivirus on my machines. I have been very pleased with it and you can find a multi-user license on sale for about $30 every now and then on Amazon and Newegg.
Single user is around $30 so it's best to get the multi-user and split it with someone.
I also have Windows 7 and I run Avast Antivirus Pro. However, it's not very good against malware. For malware try Malwarebytes Free or Malware Fighter.
I've run avast free at home for years with no issues.
As was stated before, it's crap against malware, but so is OfficeScan 10.5 which is what my clients run and costs a ton.
Bottom line is if you install the wrong program, you're going to get malware. No antivirus is going to stop that.
I would stick with free avast and free malwarebytes. As an IT guy they're my choice at home.
I would personally recommend Microsoft Security Essentials...
Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
or avast!
avast! - Download Free Antivirus software or Internet Security
Avast Free Antivirus - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
For malware removal and a program without real-time protection, I would definitely recommend Malwarebytes.
Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
I use Malwarebytes and it works great. I'm also currently running a paid AV called Trend Micro. I find it to work well and it does the job just fine. I've also used BitDefender which is just as good if not better.

BitDefender
Antivirus Software Bitdefender - Antivirus Protection and Internet Security Software
Appreciate everyone's suggestions!!
