Quicken and Windows 7-64bit- Printing Checks

My test computer has 3 partitions: VISTA 64, Windows 7 -32 bit, and Windows 7 64-bit. When I try to print a check in the Windows 7 64-bit partition, the print job gets stuck in the spooler. Checks print fine in VISTA 64-bit and Windows 7 32-bit. Interestingly, the checks do print fine in Windows 7 64-bit using Quickbooks 2003. It is just Quicken 2007 in Windows 7 64-bit that has a problem printing Quicken 2007 checks.

Yes- I also tried setting the printer to print directly, without spooling. The printing to screen does appear- and closes. The print just gets stuck in the printer que. As I mentioned, Quicken works fine with the 32-bit version of Windows 7. This appears to be unque to the 64-bit platform.

Did you have to do anything to get Quicken to work in the first place? I have Quicken 2003 and while it installs fine, when I tell it I want to open a file on my computer it stalls and then shuts down. Quicken 2009 did the exact same thing.

No- I initially just installed it (I did not use the autorun feature- rather I inserted the DVD and used Windows Explorer to OPEN the install.exe - but I did use the OPEN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR option when I right-clicked on install.exe.

Later, when the checks did not print, I changed the properties of the qw.exe file to run as compatibale with VISTA- and I also opened this file As an Adminsitrator.

    Thanks for your reply, darkassasin-

I currently have multiple boots setup on my test machine- I can run VISTA-64bit, WIN7-32bit, and WIN7-64bit. From the chart below you can see that I have tested Quicken 2007 print (either reports or checks- same result) on two different HP printers (one USB- one network) and one Brother (USB). WORD prints fine on all platforms with all 3 printers. Quicken 2007 "prints" fine on all platforms and all printers using either Microsoft XPS Document viewer and Quicken PDF printer - so it appears that Quicken is doing its job in "printing".

BOTTOM LINE: Quicken 2007 successfully prints only on the Brother MP830 using Win7-64bit- and does not print on either HP in 64-bit- but both HP printers do fine with WIN 7- 32bit.

I am not sure what this means It looks like it might be a HP issue- but why does it work with VISTA-64 and not Win7-64? Ideas???

Can't say that I do - but I need to troubleshoot an HP C6180 this weekend, and then install it in my computer - so I suppose I could do a test install of Quicken as well for ya....

I would really appreciate it. I tried tech support- by they are worthless- keep sending me "fixes" that have nothing to do with my problem (from a script I suppose). If you could install Quicken, it would help define the problem: Quicken, HP, or Windows 7 - 64 bit.
