    Windows 7 Install Log?

Hi guys, I hope someone can help me, I have a fairly unusual question...

I am having security issues with my laptop and I uninstalled a program called Winpcap yesterday. Apparently, it's a program used to monitor and record internet data. However, I didn't check the date on which it was installed before I uninstalled it in Add/Remove Programs, and I now need to find out when Winpcap was installed on my laptop. I was wondering if there is any log or record of when programs are installed/uninstalled in Windows 7?

I'd appreciate any advise at all. :)

Theres no general install/uninstall log but install/uninstall events of apps that use MSInstaller can be located in the event log. Click start button, type eventvwr.msc, hit Enter, this'll open up the event viewer. In the left pane, expand Windows Logs, then highlight Application. Then, in the right pane, click "Filter current log", in the popup box for the Eventsources drop down list, select MSInstaller. The eventvwr will now show only MSInstaller related actions in the main window, look for winpcap related entries.

Oh, and I disabled Windows Restore when I got my laptop. So that's not an option unfortunately...

Thank you so much for the help.

I'm sorry for sounding naive, but would Winpcap have used MSInstaller during installations? Do all installations use it?

No, not all installs use it. I don't know about winpcap. You can google a bit.
