Windows 7: Simple software/way to lock folder?

I am looking for a basic and simple software or perhaps a built in feature in Win 7 to lock a folder. All I am looking for is something which just puts a password on a folder and perhaps prevent it from being deleted. Nothing else, no encryption or anything.

That blocks the other users, but when logged in from my or admin account, it will be accessible.

I was looking something say, Right click, LOCK, enter pass, done. And the same way to unlock. But this too looks OK.

An alternative may be to encrypt the contents. If you don't want to use admin password linked Windows type encryption there should be 3rd party freebies out there. Search the big download sites.

Miles, if you check the OP's first post, he did say he wasn't interested in file encryption.

Sorry if I butt into another user's thread but I think this is relevant.

I saw a post up there suggesting a software. Now here comes the question, if I 'lock' a folder in D drive using that software, for example, then reformat my C somehow, would my folder be locked away permanently? I had a case like this but with file encryption. It was a nightmare as my files were lost forever - so I don't want to meet the same fate again.

i use winmend folder hidden,the folder i have secure hidden files was hidden on my external, my desktop broke, i bought a new pc, eventually installed winmend, and the hidden folders stayed hidden until i opened them via the password.
