    bizarre trouble with Coolbarz

since Coolbars is listed as one of the '92 great programs', I'm hoping someone here might be familiar with it. (it runs with no install)

I thought I'd finally found exactly the program I've always wanted... and it is cool. And since I can't find anything else similar, I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what the problem is with this one...

you drag-drop to pin items to its toolbars just as you pin to the Windows toolbar, and it works fine for programs and individual files ...and sometimes it works for folders--that's the problem (it should _always_ work ...or at least always _not_ work!).

the problem is, when clicking on a folder in its toolbars, instead of it loading the right location, it defaults to C:\Users\Documents

I can't find any consistency to the problem (it doesn't always fail on folders in a particular partition, or on a particular subfolder tree or character length, or anything like that). I just have to drag-drop and click to find out if it will load it successfully, and for whatever reason, it sometimes does load a folder properly (whence shellfolderfix then arranges it), but sometimes it defaults to My Documents.

if not for this bizarre issue, the program would be awesome as hell!

has anyone had this trouble? does anyone have troubleshooting ideas?

    NEVER MIND

I've finally figured out what the variable was!

...I prefix my folders, putting a period or comma after an a-z or 0-9 that I use to arrange folders in a list that I don't want sorted merely alphabetically by their title.

turns out if the folder name includes a comma, the program can't process it as a directory name. (it's fine with periods and en dashes, and probably more other standard characters)

    new problem with Coolbarz

Is there an easy way to get Coolbarz to start up with Windows. It asks me every morning if I want this "potentially unsafe file" to open.

if you right-click on a coolbar and go to 'Settings', then go to the 'options' tab, the first item should be a ticked option box titled "Start with Windows".

it sounds like it's something in your Windows security settings, though, no? This never happened for me.
