i recommend ditching nero, and use cdburnerxp - it's free, very versatile yet lightweight. it can burn audio cd's (mp3, flac, wma etc), data, iso, dvd's - try it for a few days, it's only a 3 MB download.

i'm 99% certain that you will not miss nero!

Nero 9 free is just shocking. Free but useless.

Just as an observation, I noticed recently that when using CDBurnerXP, my box would spike CPU load and wouldn't release until the burn process was done. Doing some research showed a problem with one of the DLL's for CDBurnerXP...(found on a forum site somewhere). I didn't have much luck getting the problem corrected, but found that ImgBurn did just as well of a job, was very light-weight, free of charge and didn't run my CPU's up at all.

So, consider trying out ImgBurn.

Also worth checking out InfraRecorder. I'm a big fan of that.

Although CDBurnerXP is just as good.

I downloaded nero free version yesterday, but it wont work on my windows 7. Have uninstalled it again. I think perhaps my problem was that I had had the nero 9 trial until it ran out of time, and accidentally/on purpose uninstalled it. What I mean to say is that I uninstalled it so that i could install another copy of nero 9 but it now wont let me get past inserting the licence key. I have a legit copy, not a key generated one. Will just have to install it on my windows vista laptop instead.
