Windows 7: Windows 7: Counterstrike source (in combo with IDM)

Windows 7 64 bit RC 7100
Windows 7: Counterstrike source (in combo with IDM)

With alot of trial and error, I've found out that Steam in general but especially Counterstrike Source has alot of problems when Internet Download Manager is installed on the same system.

It causes the game to freeze upon loading a map in lets say 95% of the time. I've tried to narrow it down and stumbled upon this download manager that I was using.

I would suggest not to use it or to uninstall it. I'm trying to narrow down what part of the program is causing it and if older versions are experiencing the same problems.

This was tested on my own system. Specs can be found in my profile, on a Windows 7 64 bit Build 7100 with all updates done.

More info can be obtained on my blog (dutch) Kenneth's World! or follow me on twitter @kdegussem .

Windows 7 Home Basic 64bit

Hi Serano, and welcome to Sevenforums.

The part of IDM that is causing the freezes in CSS
is IEMonitor.exe ( i guess it is used for browser integration and when you click a link in your browser to download a file, this part of IDM intercepts the click and forwards it to IDM so that instead of dowloading the file through a browser, it begins downloading in Internet Download Manager).
You do not need to uninstall IDM, you only need to either disable browser integration or open Task Manager, in Processes Tab locate IDMan.exe and IEMonitor.exe and terminate these processes BEFORE launching CSS.

Hope this helps.

Windows 7 64 bit RC 7100

Thanks for the reply but it just came too late Just figured that part out myself. I'm still trying to figure out how to keep the program going though. I know IDM supports ignore lists but then the question is which sites. Now i'm trying to send all my traffic through a proxy and maybe i can find a patern.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CZ

Ok guys, I especially registered in here in order to tell you, how I've solved this problem so far.

In Internet Download Manager, click Downloading -> Options -> General.

There, you have to uncheck the intergration for IE and IE based browsers and secondly, the whole point of this trick, uncheck the "Run module for monitoring in IE-based browsers (MSN, Avant...)" and press Ok. <-- This actually stops launching IEMonitor.exe and logically solves it all.

Peace all gamers & downloaders!
