Have you given enough RAM to your VM -- some of these Adobe CS5 and CS5.5 products will check to see if the machine meets minimum requirements before installing. You probably need to allocate AT LEAST 2GB RAM to this W7 VM (preferably 3GB or more if you can).
You probably will need to enable Video acceleration (usually on the HOST) and 3-D support -- I'm sure VBOX has this now.
Ensure also that your VM has the "Additions" installed -- this is the equivalent to installing VMware tools in the Guest OS when using VMware workstation
