word processing--I want to delete characters by position not type
basically, I want to strip the numbers from a numbered list ('remove first 3 character places'), so it's not something 'find/replace' will do, since that's character dependent, and I don't want to delete every instance of a number in the text.
File Rename programs have these functions for individual files, but I can't find anywhere to get it for changing line after line of a block of text.
does anyone know of freeware that could do this? (I don't have Microsoft Office)
