Me too Keith, I only use CCleaner and Speccy, haven't had a need for Recuvva....so far. As for C|net, I don't see a need for a 'download manager' for anything.

I downloaded CC Cleaner from Piriform and prefer to download software from the OP.
However, I like to read CNet and other reviews, especially with user comments. I had never heard of Advance Care, but was surprised it exceeded CC Cleaner by such a large number in downloads, hence the reason for this post.

In the beginning there were honest and reputable software purveyors. On the 4th day many turned to the Darkside and can't be trusted. C|net is one I used to use often, but not for downloads anymore.
It is far better to use the authors' sites if possible.
Many use fake reviewers too to promote products.

Yeah, I look at Cnet for user reviews, but mostly concentrate on the negetive reviews to see what is the worst case scenario with a product. Some stuff, all the negetive reviews are nit-picky stuff. Some contain the tech version of High Octane Nightmare Fuel. I used to download stuff from there but as Greg said, some stuff has crapware bundled with it, that isn't if you downlaod from the creator's website.

User comments are the only reason I go there anymore and even that is tailing off. A shame really , used to be a nice place to spend a few hours just browsing.
MajorGeeks here too or publishers site.
Anyway, Ccleaner for sure here. Have used it for years with not problem one yet. Tried one of the older ASC's for awhile but uninstalled and haven't even looked at the newer editions. Too many ways for it to go wrong imho.

I have used both CCleaner and ASC 5. I must admit
that the only reason I downloaded and gave ASC a
go was because of the number of people who had downloaded it through CNet.
I said to myself - self, what could it hurt.
Well I had no problems with ASC even when I had it "Fix" registry "problems",
however, I found that you could run the software and then run it five minutes later
and the same ammount of "problems" were once again detected. At this stage I
started to wonder why I was bothering when I had no indication of a serious
performance issue with my machine and was starting to put up with the nagware
trying to sell me a "full" version which would be able to "fix" that many more "problems"
if only I shell out somewhere in the vicinity of $15.
Does the crapware code that comes with the download still junk
up your machine if you deselect the checkbox for said crapware upon
installation? Can't remember exactly what it was - IO Bit and probably
the pesky Ask Toolbar or something - anyway - CCleaner for me also even
though I understand why the OP asked in the first place.

I must admit that I use optimize tools as it really have some impact on my system every time.Its depend on user choice which software to use as there are lots of option like tuneup utilities,glary,asc,cccleaner.
If you are talking about asc and ccleaner I think asc is good in cleaning and optimizing and speed up your pc more than any other software however I dont trust its vendor Iobit and you can see the data is sent to iobit server from your computer.
If you want to use asc block it from using network by blocking in firewall and use the tool without tension and if you want no headache use cccleaner+ccenhencer+puran defrag.
Better to be Safe than Sorry
