Nuance PDF Reader - How did it Get on My Computer?

Nuance PDF Reader suddenly appeared on my computer. Properties says it was installed on October 26, 2011. I did not put it there, nor did I install any programs on that date. Previously Adobe Reader 9.4 opened when I opened a .pdf file. Now Nuance opens.

Any idea how it got there?
Any advantages or disadvantages to using it instead of Adobe?

I should mention that I think an update to Adobe a few days ago caused "Your computer was unable to start" message so I did System Restore and the computer seems OK. (I can post that as a separate thread.)

    Thanks, cb

sometimes 3rd party software will subtly ask you whether you want to install something else and you will just click accept without thinking. That is the most probable way. Otherwise it is spyware and you need to run a scan with an anti spyware program.

There are open source pdf readers (Foxit, Sumatra to name two) that are lighter than Adobe and do the job even better.
