Programmes Which Activate the UAC

Some simple and harmless programmes activate the UAC, some don't.

How do I install such programmes so they do not require me to attend to the UAC?

Alternatively, if this is a feature of the application, how do I turn it off?

lower the slider in control panel to "never notify"

Just type user account control in search

Doing that would require a restart - every time I use the offending programme !!

It's not as bad/involved as it looks.
Just have the tutorial open or copy & past the instructions in Notepad(or Word)and have it open while creating the task.

If you have a question or get stuck just post back and someone will help.

It was much easier to download a text-editor which will run without activating the UAC ! I can put up with the UAC for CCleaner as I don't use it every 5 minutes.

Puzzling as to why Crimson Editor activates the UAC and other editors don't.

If a program requests to run as administrator (elevated), that is when you will get a UAC prompt (if turned on) for you to allow it to run elevated or not. This is a security measure to help protect you since anything that runs elevated will have full unrestricted access to everything on the computer. :)

Interesting ! Who or what decides that it is to run elevated ? I certainly didn't intend that a text editor should have unrestricted access to everything.

The other text editor I have, UltraEdit does not activate the UAC.

The one that writes the program decides if the program needs to run elevated or not for the program to run properly. You just allow or not allow it to when you run it through the UAC prompt. It's normal for a program to need to run elevated in order for it to be able to make changes that affect the system, or for it to have the need access permission. For example, the free program CCleaner must run elevated in order to be able delete what it finds when you approve it.

Some programs require to run as administrator (elevated), and others do not. It's just up to you if you trust the program or not to allow it or not. That's all. :)
