Windows 7: "application" can't be run in win32 mode"

"application" can't be run in win32 mode"

I'm trying to run VIPRERESCUE to check for rootkit virus's, but when I dbl click on the application, I get a pop up saying "application can't be run in Win32 mode." I'm using a system that is loaded with the 64 bit version of Win 7 Home Premium.

I have run this successfully in the past (don't remember how long ago) and was able to get it to run without any problems. So I know that something is different, but not what it is - I don't know who to even set a pc in win32 mode.

All of my scans with: Norton and Malwarebytes claim my system is clean. I've also run Microsoft's safety scanner, and ESET's online scanner with the same result.

Can anyone tell me: What win32 mode is, (I assume it's a setting to run legacy software) and how to set it and disable it?

I've never seen this particular msg. before.

If this is it:
VIPRE Rescue - VIPRE Computer Recovery Solution from Sunbelt Software

command line usage says to boot into Safe Mode. I would guess when it complains about Win32Mode it means it's not meant to be run when the system is booted normally. Just a guess. I've never used it or seen it before.

I thought it might be a 32-bit program that is not happy with a 64-bit OS. You may want to try Sophos for rootkit removal.
