Need duplicate file finder, compare and delete

    Hello,

I have a hard drive that has all sorts of archives of archives in it. So many, that I think I have duplicates of many files. They are not compressed or anything.

I would like a program to go through the HD and pick out the duplicates and preferrably, automatically delete the oldest one, or prompt me.

Is there a good program out there that does this?

    Thanks!

    StalkeR,

BRILLIANT! The Auslogics program was just outstanding. And, they have other 'system performance / improvement ' applications that I am going to check out, but I highly second your recommendation of their duplicate file remover, Thank you so very much!!!

One problem with an automatic dupe file remover is that if it removes the wrong one, your computer could end up not running. I would recommend one that gives you the listing of the duplicate files and allows you to mark the ones for deletion.

With the cheap price of hard disks in todays market, duplicate files is not as big an issue as it used to be.

I'm not using any software like that, but I suggest to create a back up to files you need.
