Sounds like you have installed the grub to the hard drive.
This should get it going again. MBR - Restore Windows 7 Master Boot Record
When you come to the section of using cmd I had to replace SYS with my drive letter, F:.
Anyway give it (give both a go) a go & if you get stuck post back. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Pro x64 -- PCLinuxOS KDE4 FullMonty 2011 CPU i7-875k @ Turbo - 7,6,5,5 - 3.6ghz Motherboard Asus P7P55D-E Deluxe Memory Corsair CMD8GX3M4A1600C8 8gb Graphics Card Asus EAH5850 DirectCU/2DIS/1GD5 Sound Card On Board Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster T220 - Panasonic VT30a 50" Screen Resolution 1680x1050 - Keyboard Logitech Wireless MK700 Mouse Logitech Wireless MX620 PSU Corsair HX-850 Power Supply Case Coolmaster HAF 932 Cooling Corsair H50 Hard Drives Corsair Force 3 SSD 120GB x 2 ::

Well, if you have a HP laptop, there's something which is called "Startup Repair" or "Recovery Mode". It automatically fixes any startup problems. Try hitting F11 as soon as your laptop starts up.
Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply . it is not giving me a bootmgr error . When i Boot the laptop up it goes straight to Ubuntu , if i hit the ESC button then it goes to a blank black screen with the the word "boot" blinking , I tried to type in C:/ or wstindows but noting happens .
Just a wild guess but is they maybe a command promt that I need to type in for it to start windows up ? or is they anyway of changing the start up settings from the BIOS menu . | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hp pavilion g6 OS windows 7 home premium x64 CPU core i5 Motherboard not sure Memory 4 gigabytes Graphics Card not sure Sound Card has Monitor(s) Displays 16'4" PSU not sure Case not sure Cooling not sure Hard Drives 640 GB |

Try creating a system repair disc, as this tutorial shows: System Repair Disc - Create
It doesn't re-install Windows, but it does get you into the recovery environment, from where you can run a startup repair.
You may need to run the startup repair three times with a reboot between each one. Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times
A startup repair will not affect your personal data or applications. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion Elite 495UK OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz Motherboard MSI 2A9C (CPU1) Memory 8Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1024MB dedicated RAM Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP2310i Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech K750 solar-powered keyboard Mouse Logitech Wireless M180 mouse PSU 460W Case HP Elite Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives 1x1954GB Hitachi HDS22020ALA 330 (RAID), 1x1954GB Hitachi External for backup and storage Internet Speed 2Mb Other Info Pure Avanti Flow Internet Radio with iPod Dock, 64Gb iPod, HP USB Speakers, Sony MDR-V500 Headphones, Sony Vaio F-Series Laptop |
