    Uninstalling a program

    Hi,
I want to uninstall a program called "ExpressFiles". When I try to uninstall the program I get a pop-up message.
I am attaching the name of the program and the pop-up message.
What is the danger if I keep the program. What harm is it llikely to inflict my system. By the way I use Windows 7 Ultimate (Dell Inspiron 15R).

    Thanking you in advance

Hello rintobs and welcome to Seven Forums.

It appears that you have a free product called Express-Files on your computer. It's supposed to be a search tool with a built in download manager.

The pop-up message you received wasn't attached to your post. I'm guessing it was something like "Do you really want to uninstall this?" A lot of programs try to convince people to keep their product installed and offer an "are you sure" message. If that's the mesage you get, I'd say it's OK to uninstall the program. Once you do, I'd also recommend you run a full antimalware scan just in case it's not what I think it is. You could also use Malwarebytes free as a secondary scan.

Where are you uninstalling from, the control panel or the programs own uninstaller.
If its the latter you may just need to right click and choose run as admin from the context menu.

If cyclic's suggestion doesn't work, you might be able to find the program's folder in C:\Program Files. Sometimes the uninstaller is in that folder.

There's a free product called Malwarebytes. It's primarily an on demand scanner for malware. But it also has another tool called File Assassin that can possibly delete that locked folder for you.
