Padlock symbol on user name in User directory

I am using Windows Home Premium 64 bit SP1.

My user directory under c:/...Users shows a padlock symbol on the folder for user "kevin". I believe that this is the reason this directory will not back up to my cloud drive provider. What does the padlock mean, and how do I remove it?

Have you tried right clicking it and selecting properties. I think it has something to do with the sharing permissions.

The padlock means the folder has restricted access.

If you want to allow unrestricted access you need to change the folder permissions, as this tutorial explains.

The padlock means only your user account has access. Removing the padlock means more then one person has access, shared in other words.
