Itunes 64 bit takes over all icons

    Greetings,

I recently did a new install, on a new hard drive, of windows 7 professional. Install went great no problems, have installed all updates.

I downloaded iTunes 64 (latest version).

When I install iTunes, something allows iTunes to take over every program. Meaning every desktop icon changes to iTunes icon, every icon in All Programs screen changes to iTunes icon. Then no matter what program I try to run only iTune will launch. However the description under the icon identifies which program it should be.

If I uninstall iTunes and restart computer all icons return to normal and will launch perspective programs.

I am at a loss have never incountered such a thing. Please help! Miss listening to my playlists while working at computer.

Hello trpartridge, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It seems that the asssociations for shortcuts (LNK) files may be messed up somehow. You might see if downloading and merging the lnk (LNK) option in the tutorial after installing iTunes may help. It will restore the default association for shortcuts.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
