Windows 7 - Does a better edition from Win 7 uses more memory?

Hi,

I'm thinking to upgrade from Home Premium to Professional or from Home Premium To Ultimate, I have 4GB of DDR3 and when I boot my computer and log in it will say it's 32% full and like to have it like that full so

My questions are:

Does Win 7 Professional uses more memory than Windows 7 Home Premium??

and

Does Win 7 Ultimate uses more memory than Win 7 Home Premium??

No the different editions of Windows does not use more memory, they are all the same.

Maybe what you heard was something about the higher editions supporting more memory. In the 64 bit editions this is true:

On 32 bit they're all at 4 GB max 'cept starter edition.

I got the question. I just suggested a reason you may have asked it.

I'm not aware of greater memory efficiency in the various versions of Windows with the same "bitness." But with MS one never knows without empirical tests. I do know that 64 bit will use more resources than 32 bit of the same edition since it's running SysWow64 32 bit emulator, and also has Registry duplication due to same. The Registry is cached in ram, but if you have ram over 4 GB you have access you wouldn't have with 32 bit. I guess the short answer is there isn't a short answer.
