If you want to use a third-party burner, many of us use ImgBurn: The Official ImgBurn Website

Don't forget, you also have plenty of options with Windows 7 though.

You'll find most people using CDBurnerXP or ImgBurn. Both are free, and are much more reliable than the built-in application.

Just remember...if the built-in app was fully-functional and useful, Microsoft would have been sued to have it removed.
