I'm not sure but I think there might be some computability issues with Nero, what sort of things were you looking at doing with it?
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Just the normal really buring data disk and dvds. Does the latest verison of Nero 9 include burining rom? Are there compatabilty issues between vista or windows 7?
yes, i have nero 9 under windows 7. i've only used to burn a couple iso discs, and it worked fine. it's pretty bloated software in my opinion, but yeah burning rom is included.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I saw Nero 9 on ebay the other day, the retail verison for £22 pound does this sound ok? or is it always best to buy from a shop?
When I upgraded to Windows 7, I also purchased Nero 9.
The first thing I tried was to do a back up with Nero 9 to a spare hard drive. It froze each time I tried it. It froze in a different place and at a different time, but it always froze. I had Nero 7 and XP prior to this and it never failed. Since it's impossible to contact Microsoft, I contacted Nero.
They've been trying to figure it out for a week. That's my experience.
I've never really been a big fan of Nero or Roxio as they are often very bloated applications when most times you need a simple cd burner application.
I've since moved over to using imgburn. It's free and it works great.
I used to use cdburnerXP...but it tends to max out my CPU for no good reason when I burn disks. I found this being discussed on the CDburnerXP forums...but it wasn't worth fixing as ImgBurn met my needs.
Hi there
I'm still using Nero 7 but only for creating (Viurtual) Audio CD's which I then can burn to Minidiscs (yes I'm still using those).
I mount the Virtual CD with Alcohol 52% Free edition -- it can handle the .NRG nero format. The MD transfer software then burns to MD. Ultra ISO doesn't like mounted Audio .NRG files.
I only use Nero as it can create Audio CD's directly from my FLAC files and write to a "Virtual Audio image file" -- that's ALL I use it for --everything else is just bloat I'm afraid.
If you just want burning / ripping DVD software there's a lot of better options out there -- if I could find a decent "Create Virtual Audio CD images" from FLAC files I'd dump Nero in an instant.
For "Cloning" DVD's (even Blu Ray) Img Burn works fine on Windows 7 even X-64.

I have Nero 9. Mainly, I use it for Audio CD burning, as I have a recording studio, and there are no problems. I don't use the Nero backitup as I use Acronis True Image for backups.
Nero has got "bloated" over the years but is heads better than the buggy Roxio. I used Roxio for a long time (started when they were called Adaptec) but had so many problems with each version that I finally gave up. I have problems with an old version (8) of Roxio on a Vista PC and it looks like it's going to take a manual uninstall, including manually editing the registry, to get rid of it as it won't uninstall with uninstall programs.
It is not worth the money to upgrade from Nero 7 to Nero 9! It does the same thing but at a higher cost and no added value for what I have seen as no benefit. Nero 8 was much like Windows ME, a total bust! Nero 9 is simply a fix for what failed in Nero 8. Do not waist the money for Nero 9! Checkout slysoft and foxkiller ver 6 for anyHDdvd.
