    SyncToy echo settings...??

I'm using sync toy 2.1 until i can figure out how to setup my RAID. I'm a little confused on the "echo" setting. Is this thing based on the absolute newest version of each file? Meaning it will keep the newest file or overwrite with the newest file regardless if its on the left or right?

I've accumulated enourmous amounts of 3d files for my job, but am having a hard time sifting through finding which files are the newest. They are on 4 different hard drives all setup in succession (drive 1 is paired with 2, 2 with 3 and 3 with 4) in synctoy. Right now i am using contribute so that i won't lose any files, but this is taking up space too fast. I'd like to just keep all newest files. Is echo the way to go?

I have all mine set to 'contribute' as I just want a backup of my latest files, left to right.

Also unticked the option to send the overwritten files to the bin.

What happened was i had to drives with the exact same data. I then tried to install the RAID. I backed up my files manually to another 2 drives. I forgot about the RAID and continued to work on my jobs. Now i don't know which drive is the newest or where the newest files are because i've been working from desktop shortcuts that point to my backup drives. I have no idea if i should echo or contribute because i don't know where my latest files are.
