I'm not sure but I think there might be some computability issues with Nero, what sort of things were you looking at doing with it? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Brew OS Windows 7 Ultimate Vista Ultimate x64 CPU Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz @ 3.8Ghz Motherboard eVGA 750i FTW Memory 2x2Gigs Patriot PC2-6400 LL Graphics Card Inno3D GeForce GTX260 216 SP Monitor(s) Displays ASUS VW222U 22" 2ms Response time Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Mouse Logitech G9 Gaming Mouse PSU HYTEC 600W & Thermaltake 650W Toughpower Power Exp Case Thermaltake Armor LCS (Liquid Cooling System) Cooling Liquid Cooling System Hard Drives SATA 150GB

yes, i have nero 9 under windows 7. i've only used to burn a couple iso discs, and it worked fine. it's pretty bloated software in my opinion, but yeah burning rom is included. | My System Specs | | OS OS X 10.6 and Windows 7 |

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I saw Nero 9 on ebay the other day, the retail verison for £22 pound does this sound ok? or is it always best to buy from a shop? | My System Specs | | OS WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM 64BIT CPU amd 1090t 3.20ghz Motherboard gigabyte 890fxa-ud5 Memory G-Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-12800 CL7(7-8-7-24) Graphics Card MSI ATI 5850 OC 1GB Sound Card CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER GAMER EDTION Monitor(s) Displays SAMSUNG T240 Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Keyboard LOGITECH G15 Mouse LOGITECH G5 PSU CORSAIR 620HX Case ANTEC 300 GAMING CASE Cooling CPU COOLER CORSAIR CWCH50-1 Hard Drives Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB

Nero 9 & Windows 7 problem When I upgraded to Windows 7, I also purchased Nero 9.
The first thing I tried was to do a back up with Nero 9 to a spare hard drive. It froze each time I tried it. It froze in a different place and at a different time, but it always froze. I had Nero 7 and XP prior to this and it never failed. Since it's impossible to contact Microsoft, I contacted Nero.
They've been trying to figure it out for a week. That's my experience. | My System Specs | | |

I've never really been a big fan of Nero or Roxio as they are often very bloated applications when most times you need a simple cd burner application.
I've since moved over to using imgburn. It's free and it works great.
I used to use cdburnerXP...but it tends to max out my CPU for no good reason when I burn disks. I found this being discussed on the CDburnerXP forums...but it wasn't worth fixing as ImgBurn met my needs. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD

How to save 50% off of Nero9 and get Nero BackItUp free I just recently purchased Nero9 and saved 50% on it using a method found here: Digital Afterthought
I got Nero BackItUp & Burn for free too...
I have had NO problems running Nero9 on Windows 7
I would highly recommend it as it is very stable, reliable, and offers many additional plug-ins like Nero Blu-Ray authoring which allows you to edit and create Blu-Ray Movies and DVDs with 2D or 3D menus
Sure you could go freeware but you wont get as many updates or support as you would from Nero | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ OS Windows 7 CPU http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ Motherboard http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ Memory http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ Graphics Card http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ Sound Card http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ Monitor(s) Displays http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ PSU http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ Case http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ Cooling http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ Hard Drives http://digitalafterthought.blogspot.com/ |

Hi there
I'm still using Nero 7 but only for creating (Viurtual) Audio CD's which I then can burn to Minidiscs (yes I'm still using those).
I mount the Virtual CD with Alcohol 52% Free edition -- it can handle the .NRG nero format. The MD transfer software then burns to MD. Ultra ISO doesn't like mounted Audio .NRG files.
I only use Nero as it can create Audio CD's directly from my FLAC files and write to a "Virtual Audio image file" -- that's ALL I use it for --everything else is just bloat I'm afraid.
If you just want burning / ripping DVD software there's a lot of better options out there -- if I could find a decent "Create Virtual Audio CD images" from FLAC files I'd dump Nero in an instant.
For "Cloning" DVD's (even Blu Ray) Img Burn works fine on Windows 7 even X-64.
Cheers

I have Nero 9. Mainly, I use it for Audio CD burning, as I have a recording studio, and there are no problems. I don't use the Nero backitup as I use Acronis True Image for backups.
Nero has got "bloated" over the years but is heads better than the buggy Roxio. I used Roxio for a long time (started when they were called Adaptec) but had so many problems with each version that I finally gave up. I have problems with an old version (8) of Roxio on a Vista PC and it looks like it's going to take a manual uninstall, including manually editing the registry, to get rid of it as it won't uninstall with uninstall programs. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7
