Already tried that one thanks. But I can't find the IMAPI service in windows 7. I tried checking it on google but couldn't find answers on how to access this IMAPI in windows 7.

From all accounts on the Net, ImgBurn is about the best program for burning CDs and DVDs. However I found its GUI very difficult to master. The same sources on the Net also stated that Burnaware free version is the second best program. I then tried that and found that it does an excellent job and has an easy and most intuitive GUI.

I have used Burnaware since then and last year I upgraded to their shareware version. I have no complaints but only praises for this program

    Burn Speed

I have found several suggestions for fixes for your problem:

    1. Change the burn speed (i.e. set it to a lower speed).
    2. Use a different brand of disc.
    3. Clean the optical drive.
    4. The imapi fix.

I'd try setting the burn speed to 1x.

In Windows 7 imapi seems to be run by "explorer.exe" (I used the "Find" tool in "Process Explorer").

Kill "explorer.exe" and then restart it
    Option 1
Open the "Task Manger" and kill "explorer.exe" and then restart it.
Choose "New Task (Run...)" and type "explorer.exe".

If you have "Process Explorer" you can simply right click on "explorer.exe" in the process list and choose "Restart"

    Option 2
Try rebooting your PC with the blank disc in the drive.

I'm not sure what you found difficult about ImgBurn's GUI.
    It seems self-explanatory.

It's not the wizard that's complicated. It's the dozens of options. Many categories of options have more than one Tab full of them. I've been using Imgburn for quite awhile. But the options are a bit daunting. It's best to follow a guide changing the default options only if there's a reason, until you know what's up with a category of burn.

Often power calibration error is it doesn't like the media. After several different brands are tried using a disc info tool to make sure they aren't really all from the same factory, then a firmware update or backing off to an older Imgburn release may be the only options. Now and then it may find a burner it doesn't like.

That's the same problem that a lot of programs/tools have (e.g. video codecs).

    Agreed.

One of my friends tried to burn a disc (Windows PE-type disc) it wouldn't burn correctly, unless it was burnt at the lowest speed.

I generally use RW discs, so that if the burning "goes pear shaped" I haven't lost anything.
