I updated the second it was available. iTunes told me under help>check for updates that 10.5 was available, yet did nothing when I clicked download (tried several times). Apple Software Update said nothing was available. So, I used a US VPN and tried again. This time, Apple Software Update said it was available, so I updated it. Update visibly went smoothly, however, are there geographical restrictions etched into it?
On first run, Purchased>Previous Purchases only showed Apps and Books (as it had done in the previous version). after tweeting about this
"Under 'Previous Purchases' I'm still only getting apps and books listed :/"
, I tried again and 'Music' appeared (but not TV Shows... ). When I tried to download one (tried several times with different items) of the the 158 musical purchases that weren't in my library via previous purchases, it said try again later (both with and without VPN). I last attempted about 3 hours ago (as now not at home until the evening), but is this a general error for people who obtained it properly, or is it due to me jumping the gun? :/
(previous purchases is one of my most anticipated features of 10.5 as it wasn't working on my iPod (yes, latest iOS version, still not showing) so it would be nice to get it working)

(I know this isn't a help thread, it's just a news thread on the release, but my problem is rather minor and wholly related to the release. )

FYI if you're using Internet Explorer (can't speak for other browsers) and go to Apple's website, it'll automatically offer you the correct version for your OS (64 or 32-bit). At least it does on all my machines.

Which is what Airbot linked to.

I've just updated iTunes without any real trouble. Updating my iPad to IOS 5 was a different matter

It took several attempts and kept failing with a 3200 error code. I had to disable my firewall and antivirus, and change from OpenDNS to "automatically select" on my network card before it would install. It took well over an hour just restoring the few apps I've got, and over six hours total

Having played with it for an hour or so, I'm not certain as to why I bothered upgrading at all

In reply to snipermouse, you get the choice of using your computer or the iCloud for backup during IOS 5 setup. You also get the choice of what you want to have backed up. I used my computer, mainly because you only get 5GB in iCloud unless you pay extra.

I hope nobody else has the same problems I had.

They've always had a 64 bit version like sygnus said. There's also a link to it directly near the bottom of the iTunes download page on the left hand column.

Besides, it isn't a true native 64 bit version anyways. Just a couple components. The program itself is still 32 bit. Check task manager while running it, and where the .exe is located in your files.

Thanks beauparc, I'll have a look when I get home. That's a relief that you get a choice.

    Cheers
