i haven't tried infra recorder, but ashampoo seems ok.

in the end, only you can decide which software is 'better'.

try them both, there are free versions available - you will like one better than the other.

I am using Ashampoo Burning studio 2009 (Advanced). It is free - googling should come up with something.

It works very well for me.

others claim it works well on windows 7, but I ran into problems with infrarecorder on windows 7, so I don't recommend it.

I'm using Infrarecorder x64, the portable version, and it has been working fine for me. I don't use it a lot, just to burn the occasional iso file or copy a disc or two, but it meets my simple needs.

Ashampoo Burning Studio is really good just like Nero but much lighter installation only 85 MB.
I've been using it for a few years now and it does a good job.

So far I have burned Blu-ray, DVD along with CD media with Ashampoo as well as used the Photo Slideshow component and most others with Win7 RTM with no problems yet.

Ashampoo Burning Studio is a brilliant bit of Software had no issues with it what so ever, compared to the utterly bloated Nero.
