Safe Alternative To Adobe Flash Player

I'm looking for a program that will allow flash content, but is a safe alternative.
I understand that Adobe Flash has security problems.

there isn't a flash alternative for windows.

newer browsers support some of html5 which does much the same thing & can play videos, but doesn't play flash items. it's not quite ready yet. youtube has a trial html5 mode that works for my firefox, but doesn't duplicate all the flash stuff. other sites don't support it yet.

hopefully it won't be long till the switch to html5.
