Yep I know and the reg is only scanned for irregularities just as the CCleaner does it has a separate function for defragging it :)

My only problem with it is that is doesn't seem to have a cookies saver so any passworded sites you need to keeps with CC.:)

Ooops forgot the different sections all have settings and backup and restore are there for safety.

I think the reason is that Adobe usually comes pre-installed. It took me a long time to find Foxit also.
Yes me to but now I prefer Foxit!

I use Foxit too, I got tired of continual Adobe updates and the extreme bloat.
    Yes it ate my data!

Items that have made pc life easier and fun. :)

    PDF-XChange

Purely from the reading aspect I came around to enjoying it more than Foxit. For creating PDFs then OpenOffice or Tomahawk PDF do the trick for me.

    Core FTP LE

Used it for years on a couple of websites and hardly a complaint to speak of.

    PSPad Editor

One-man-band of editors. Also connects up nicely with FTP for working on webpages and also on forums for modifying templates, PHP, themes, etc.

    Metapad

When I want a quickie then Metapad subs for PSPad. Notepad? What's that?

    MemPad

Indispensable. Used every day. Perfect example of the simplest thing for the simplest of ease.

    Notebox Disorganizer

Not well known but an interesting piece of software and its maker, Forrest Leeson, a humorous fellow. Nice guy, I once wrote to him asking about a change in the save box and within a few days he sent me the modified version. Check this for a description (screenshot says 'journal' but there are several categories) then Forrest's site for the download. You'll smile. :)

    TapinRadio

A couple of the guys from Screamer Radio decided to go their own way. I still have Screamer around but it got way too lax with the upkeep, station connections, etc. Either way I'm still trying to figure out buffer size for maximum grab of individual songs midstream.
The stations list in Tapin is huge. Still looking for the perfect radio but SR & TR are managing the road there comfortably.

    Stellarium

Want your own planetarium? This is it. Beautiful.

    PhotoScape

It's got a feature called 'Backlight' that I've not seen either in Photoshop or Gimp - or any other of the dozen photo editors I've tried. For that feature alone it's a keeper.

    jcpicker

Simple color picker. Simple pleasure. And Anny is a nice lady. She'll answer your questions and after the updated version came out sent an email to see if a flickering problem I mentioned to her was fixed by it. It was. :)

    mp3DirectCut

Cool, easy mp3 player and editor. Soon as I sort out the MSCOMCTL.OCX issue with another software, 'Mp3Gain', then it'll be a good team.

    Concenturio

Alarm/Reminder. Was using ReminderFox but I think the hounds got to it. Use your own wave file - many choices here. I'm partial to the gongs but scroll down and you'll see more choices than you'll need.

    CubicExplorer

Maybe it's just me but Win7's Explorer looks like Zen gone wrong. Anyway, CE makes up for it quite effectively for me.

    PrintFolder 1.3

Text list of what's in folders. If after download when you open it and see a 'fail to set' notice, just close it and program appears.

If any questions on the software, post or send a message and will answer from my own experience with them. :)

And all of the above are free and many portable. Though some will have pro versions if you're interested.

Don't know if this has been posted before, but there is a great program to track your installed applications a lot better than the malwareful SUMo.

It's called AllMyApps. Basically, it acts like an "AppStore" for Windows 7- applications.

The UI is not super beautiful but as for the functionalities it does exactly what it needs to do. Moreover, with a Premium account you can save your applications on the cloud to be able to reinstall them anywhere.

I hope they will somehow improve their UI, but in the meantime, I recommend it to anyone.

LibreOffice has been installed; no more Java and OpenOffice.

Read the comments after the article. Apparently, the current version isn't as good as the earlier one.

Hum didn't go down there as I just saw the ads and stopped so it sounds like it doesn't strip them out as the programs are recording then?

I like Kingsoft Office much better than OpenOffice or LibreOffice.

Kingsoft Office could open multiple docs at one/the same window with its multiple tabs feature which is very convenient and useful for people who need muiltple docs to be looked at on the same time. Whenever I'm doing my paper and thesis, I always prefer Kingsoft so that I can open multiple docs that consist of datas and references I need to peek at continously, and I can switch over them easily without having to open multiple windows anymore, which is friendly for the CPU and RAM process. :)
