Photoshop is a great choice, but you must pay for it. GIMP is similar in many ways and is free. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU i7-2600K Motherboard Asus P8P67 Pro B3 (Rev 3.1) Memory Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 @ 1600Mhz (9-9-9-24) Graphics Card Asus Radeon HD 5850 (Crossfire) Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fata1ity Professional Monitor(s) Displays Acer Eyefinity Screen Resolution 5040x1050 Keyboard Ducky Shine / Das Ultimate Blank Mouse Razer Lachesis PSU Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750W Case LIAN LI Lancool PC-K56 Cooling Corsair H70 Hard Drives Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB |

Paint.NET is fairly easy to use and with plugins from their forum is very capable. Download

Paint.net would be my recommendation too. If you need more power than that, the GIMP is a good choice. If you need the industry standard, you will have to pony up some money for Photoshop. It must be worth it, everybody seems to use it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD

Adobe Photoshop is the best amongst them all. But it is not freeware. GIMP is the best alternative.
