Photoshop CS4 on Win7 x64 - Install Problem

Hello, new here, 'm trying to install Photoshop CS4 extended version on my newly installed Windows 7 x64 OS, but the CD doesn't run, it just does nothing, the ODD does however play DVDs ??

Might this be because its a 64 bit OS ?

Previously had Vista installed on the laptop, and it doesn't state anywhere on the PS box whether its a x86 or x64 software version.

I think CS 4 was offered in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

It shouldn't matter, though. If you have the 64-bit version, it should install to the Program Files directory. The 32-bit version would install to Program Files (x86).

You have some other issue going on.

Do you know that your hardware meets the minimum requirements for CS 4?? I'm not sure if that would cause your problem.

It was previously installed on the same laptop, I just upgraded from Vista to 7, theres a conflict on the mass storage controller in device manager, could this be preventing the DVD to be run ? It wont update the drivers on either this or the DVD/CD.

Perhaps it's just an auto-run/auto-play issue.

Can you navigate to the DVD itself (using your drive letter), and then manually run the SETUP.EXE or AUTORUN.EXE (or similar kind of name) program in the root of that DVD?

I've installed Adobe Design Premium CS4 on my 64-bit computer without any problem.

Photoshop Extended I think installs both the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version, you should see both of them listed in the Startup folder.

I agree with dsperber in that you should try initialising the install by double-clicking the setup.exe file, although it might pay you to right-click it first, and then choose Run as Administrator.

Alternatively, have you tried copying the Photoshop files to your hard drive and installing from there?
