    Will it work for people who upgraded from Vista and so already have MSN premium installed?

    I am now unable to send e-mails within MSN premium - apparently it's not able to sync with the servers..

    I would remove MSN Premium completely.
    Then go in to "Regedit" and remove the "Post Platform" folder as described before.
    Re-install MSN Premium

    Let me know how you made out.

    I ended up uninstalling Norton Internet Security 2009 and when I went back into MSN premium it works, though with a few glitches (no more than normal!)

    First off, MSN Premium Software 9.5 is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7 and don't let anyone tell you different.

    Try this, it worked quite well for me;

    Click Start/Run, type in "regedit" without quotes to open the Registry Editor

    Expand: HKey_Local_Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows(Not WindowsNT)/Current Version/Internet Settings/5.0/User Agent

    Inside the User Agent Folder is a folder named "Post Platform" Delete this folder and click Yes to the pop-up. Close the Registry Editor.

    Now you can install MSN with no problems.

    Remember, this is a Registry change, so do so at your own risk and please back it up.
    First things first...great Avatar!!

    Tried this fix wih a newly down loaded version of MSM Explorer (v9.60)....no luck.

    Searched around for a downloadable copy of 9.5...no luck.

    Any other suggestions?

    FWIW, new ASUS PC preloaded with Windows 7.

    Thanks,

    I used this method for both MSN 9.5/9.6 and it worked, no issues.
    Is MSN your ISP or Qwest w/MSN Premium?
    What error message and/or code are you receiving?
    Also, what AV/Firewall program are you running?

    Qwest with MSN Premium
    I get to the point where I'm asked if i have an existing @msn.com email address. i select yes and enter the email address and password. Then nothing. I do get a "Please Wait" message and a status bar but that's it.

    my new computer came with Trend Micro preloaded and that's all I'm using right now.

    Ok, I also have Qwest,

    Try this;
    Download and install Avast (avast! - Download antivirus software for spyware and virus protection), it's free for home users, if you wish to keep it you'll have to register for the key, which is also free.
    Once installed and running, disable/shut down "Trend Micro" completely and turn on "Windows Firewall"
    Now, try the installation again.
    Let me know the outcome.

    I've been reading a lot lately that the following AV's do not play nice with Win7 and Vista;
    AVG, Norton, Trend Micro and McAfee
    I've tested many AV's with XP, Vista and Win7 and always went back to Avast. IMHO, it works the best.
    With MSN Premium, I also use Spysweeper by Webroot, which is also free for MSN members.

    I'll give it a shot, hopefully this evening. I'll post up the results.

    Same results.
    I went to the following site and clicked on the "Install" Button.
    MSN Member Center
    When I try to install the software I get a blank grey window and another pop-up with error code 235 in the lower left corner.

    Frustrating to say the least.

    Got it!! Got intouch with MSN tech support via my ISP. Turns out that 64bit systems need to delete a "Post Platform" file but you'll need to follow this trailof files. Use the same steps given by Adamsappleone to open the regisrty editor thenwork your way down the file tree until you get to this:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform

    Right click on Post Platform and select DELETE.

    Now install MSN Premium....but you're not done!!!!!

    After the system is installed Right Click on the Butterfly Icon
    Select Properties
    Left Click the Compatibility tab
    Click the square next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    From the pulldown that follows the previous step select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)

    At the bottom of the window left click the button labeled "Change settings for all users"
    Click the square next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    From the pulldown that follows the previous step select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
    Click on Apply
    When the window closes click on the "Apply" button.

    Restart your computer.
