Windows 7: Movie/Video Editor

I am looking for a video editor that can split the video into parts (preferably free). Most of my vidoes are in the .wmv format and sizes range from a few mb up to 4 gb. In most circumstances, it would be used to remove the beginning and end of the video.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Try Machete Lite.

It works only on AVI and WMV files, but is a lossless editor--you suffer no degradation in quality when you edit.

It's a free download. There is also a regular (non-Lite) version that costs money and has more features, but for simple editing out segments as you describe, you don't need anything but the Lite version.

It's quick, simple, and works very well.

An alternative is Freemake Video Converter. Although its primary purpose is video conversion it has a basic editor which will do what you want. And it is considerably faster than WLMM. Free Video Converter| MP4 FLV 3GP AVI MKV DVD| FREE Download
