    Revo Uninstaller

Using the free, portable version. When I run the program, it doesn't show all the
installed programs. One, in particular, that is missing is the AMD Catalyst Install Manager. Recycled the program I had and D/L again. Same result.
Anyone else have the same situation ?

Revo doesn't recognize or look for 64bit programs. Programs and Features would list them for the uninstall.

Once I uninstalled via Revo. It might have been Adobe Flash or Sun Java. When I scanned Programs and Features, it was still listed. Turned out the 32bit was uninstalled while the 64bit remained installed.

Only the paid version will uninstall 64bit programs.

Revo has been running a sale on Bits dujour for a few weeks at $29. I keep looking at it but am wondering if it's really needed. After 15 years computing, I can't say I have needed it except to maybe clean up straggler files from an uninstall. As a user, do you think it's a benefit?

I run 64 bit Windows 7 and now I know why only certain programs show up for deletion. I sometimes wrangle with the same question. Is Revo really needed ?
In my dealings with Revo, I can only say that there are ALOT of files, registry entries etc, left over after an uninstall. So many that I was astounded by the sheer number
of entries presented AFTER the program uninstaller ran. So far, I've had no problems deleting everthing Revo has presented. YMMV for sure.
I suppose what bothers me most is "Why programmers won't, or can't, write an uninstaller that actually uninstalls their program. I understand shared files. Thinking back to several programs I Revo uninstalled on a 32 bit XP Home machine, I would guesstimate a couple of HUNDRED registry entries would still remain without using the Revo uninstaller.

So you recommend it as an addition to my computer? I have System Restore disabled because I'm using Rollback Rx, and I notice from the Revo screenshots that there is a System Restore step while doing something. Can anyone tell me if System Restore is needed in order to use Revo? Thanks in advance.
