don't know if you are still having a problem.
had this problem about a year ago, the way i got rid of it, is by manually uninstalling itunes, and deleting all files relating to it, and rebooting the computer, then install again with the updated itunes, since then i didnt have a problem.

but save your itunes program folder, the one in my music.
there was a write up about this awhile ago, it seems that itunes gets hung up between the versions, not allowing it to completely install.

there might have been a registry entry, did you also clean your registry after uninstalling?
(i usually keep away from from registry cleaners, except for these type of situations)

Hello mk10,

We all want to help you. This should be a problem with permissions. Try using this tool to reset registry and file permissions: |MG| Tweaking.com - Windows Repair 1.7.0 Download Good luck

Also, try installing it without the Bonjour service as described in the link I gave you. There are also some other idea in the link. Give them a try and see of any of them work.

i'll try to write what i did about a year ago

uninstall i tunes, and all components.
searched all my folders for any resemblance to something related to it, and deleted them to the recycle bin. even "hidden files".
restarted my computer, ran "cc cleaner", the part that cleans registries. restarted the computer again, then installed the new version of itunes.

Do the following.

01. Uninstall iTunes and other related Apple Programs like Bonjour et al.
02. Search and delete any left over files and folders.
03. Reboot the Computer.
04 Open the Registry Editor (Regedit).
05. On the Menu click on Edit>Find
06. In the Message box type "iTunes" without the inverted commas
07. Keep deleting all keys/values that keep showing on pressing Find Next or F3.
08. After you get Finished Searching repeat this procedure for any stragglers.
09. Reboot and reinstall iTunes.

Please note that Registry editing (especially manually) can be a hazardous past-time. Therefore first back up the Registry and then do the editing with the greatest care.

If this doesn't succeed then I think nothing would.
