Javaw.exe and javasched issues ~

For some reason, javaw.exe takes a whopping 120k+ worth of memory each time. I didn't enter any browser yet and it is already taking up that much ?

Are there any abnormalities here ?

Regarding javasched, is there javasched for each separate java environment I install ? I have both Java 6 and Java 7 installed.

Thanks in advance =)

It's not the javaw.exe using the memory, but rather another program on your PC using javaw.exe (such as Limewire). If you have such a program, and don't want it running at startup, you can disable it with msconfig.

You can also disable the jusched.exe there (I personally disable mine. I am aware of when updates come out). You will see 2 there is indeed each version runs one (they should show in task manager as well). Which begs the question why you have 2 versions running?

Dang, is it possible to find out which software is using javaw.exe at startup ? =/

Hmm I have a java app which have a splash screen showing java 6 whenever I open it.. that's why I kept java 6. I assume it requires Java 6 to run it ? Or am I wrong haha ~

When Java is updated (in my experience) it tended to make new files instead of overwriting the originals in case some older programs needed that version. I was advised by a PC Tech. to do this. Java.pdf and never had any trouble.

You can look at the startup tab of msconfig. Post a screenshot if you want suggestions (more then one if the list is too long for one).

Start> In search box type msconfig> Press enter> Click on Startup tab

Look for which program might be using java at startup. Post a screenshot(s) if needed

Your app with the splash screen might be a good place to start.

That app should also (should) work with a later version of Java. You could always reinstall an older version (can find them at Filehippo: Download Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0.4 (32-bit) Download Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0.4 (64-bit) )

May I suggest you download and run the free JavaRa which will remove older Java versions and any other unneeded Java functions you don't want , or need?
