Thanks Mr. GRiM. Got it working now. Still can't make it the default, but can't have everything.
Gary
Edit:Wow the 64 bit is sooooo fast to open.
Edit2:Now I get the 'open file-security warning' box. I unchecked always ask, but it doesn't stick. Tried to set compatibility, but that is all greyed out. Also took ownership and full rights. No go. Guess MS is trying to force us to stop using WM. Will try the 32 bit as that never had that prob. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS420 OS Vista Ult 64 bit Seven Ult RTM x64 CPU Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 2.40 gigahertz Memory Crucial Ballistix 4x2GB PC2 6400 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS 256 MB Sound Card Creative SB X-Fi audio Monitor(s) Displays HP w2207 + HPvs15 Screen Resolution 1680x1050 + 1024x768 Keyboard Microsoft Comfort Curve Mouse MX Revolution Hard Drives 2-WD5000AAKS-500 GB

Your welcome Gary, happy to here that it's nice and quick for you, question though did it ask you the first time you opened it if you wanted it to be set as default, because it did when I tried it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Brew OS Windows 7 Ultimate Vista Ultimate x64 CPU Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz @ 3.8Ghz Motherboard eVGA 750i FTW Memory 2x2Gigs Patriot PC2-6400 LL Graphics Card Inno3D GeForce GTX260 216 SP Monitor(s) Displays ASUS VW222U 22" 2ms Response time Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Mouse Logitech G9 Gaming Mouse PSU HYTEC 600W & Thermaltake 650W Toughpower Power Exp Case Thermaltake Armor LCS (Liquid Cooling System) Cooling Liquid Cooling System Hard Drives SATA 150GB

Yes I did, but didn't work for me. Tried going to assoc. prog. and select it and it won't let me. Same as in other builds.
Tried 32 bit and it has the open file security warning also.

Just had a power outage so I shut down and rebooted when it came back on and now the security window seems to be gone. Just needed a reboot to stick I guess. Still can't set as default though.

I found I couldn't set it as default until I actually had another mail program installed. Same with the default news handler. That wouldn't stick even after I had setup WLM as an alternative. I think Microsoft never meant WM to be active in Windows 7 so it's no wonder really. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware® ALX X58 OS Vista Ultimate SP2/Windows 7 Ultimate SP1/x64/XP SP3 x86 in VM CPU Intel® Core™ i7-975 Extreme O/C to 4.02 GHz, 8MB Cache Motherboard Asus® P6T Deluxe V2 X58 LGA1366 Memory 12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 6 x 2048MB Graphics Card 1792 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 295/Hauppauge HVR2250 TV Tuner Sound Card Onboard Soundmax® High-Definition 7.1 Performance Audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung XL2370 LED backlit 23" W/S 2ms response time Screen Resolution 1920 X 1080 Keyboard Microsoft® Wireless Entertainment 8000 + Logitech® G15 Wired Mouse Microsoft® Wireless Laser 8000 + Logitech® G9 Wired PSU Alienware® 1200 Watt Multi-GPU Case Alienware® P2 ALX Chassis with AlienIce™ 3.0 Video Cooling Cooling Alienware® High-Perf. I renamed and added the new folder. It's working except for being the default.
Hi Ex_Brit,
I'll try downloading another prog. and see if that works. I'm sure MS doesn't mean for it to be active, but why include all the files and folders?

Gary Exactly....I sent MSFT some rather sharply worded feedback on the subject. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware® ALX X58 OS Vista Ultimate SP2/Windows 7 Ultimate SP1/x64/XP SP3 x86 in VM CPU Intel® Core™ i7-975 Extreme O/C to 4.02 GHz, 8MB Cache Motherboard Asus® P6T Deluxe V2 X58 LGA1366 Memory 12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 6 x 2048MB Graphics Card 1792 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 295/Hauppauge HVR2250 TV Tuner Sound Card Onboard Soundmax® High-Definition 7.1 Performance Audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung XL2370 LED backlit 23" W/S 2ms response time Screen Resolution 1920 X 1080 Keyboard Microsoft® Wireless Entertainment 8000 + Logitech® G15 Wired Mouse Microsoft® Wireless Laser 8000 + Logitech® G9 Wired PSU Alienware® 1200 Watt Multi-GPU Case Alienware® P2 ALX Chassis with AlienIce™ 3.0 Video Cooling Cooling Alienware® High-Perf.
