I keep repeating that you should try to burn a new Win7 DVD with the latest installer to avoid the error that your version is more recent. I even provided you with tutorial and the steps numbers for link to download and tool to burn/write the latest ISO.

If you want to get updates for the install then plug your computer in by wire, or find another wireless network to use.

Go ahead and run CCleaner registry cleanup.

Ah - sorry - I kept following the steps that I had a good disc - will download the program from the link you supplied.

I have no way to get that computer up on the internet. I have no line line into the house and the ATT air card is what started all this mess - fixed all the registry problems and will now see if it will let me install the ATT comm manager to that computer. - tks - jb

Did you complete these steps as well?

In C:Program Files, delete any ATT folders, then in Control Panel>Folder Options>View unhide System and Hidden Files, go to C:Program data to delete any ATT. Then run CCleaner Disk and Registry cleaners, reboot. Can you reinstall ATT?

Go ahead and run CCleaner's registry cleaner (and only CCleaner's) and then see if the AT&T app will install. If not. use the steps Greg has quoted in his last post. Make sure to make the System Restore Point.

Wanted to confirm that this would work before recommending it, and it looks like others have done it.

You might be able to get internet on your main computer by bridging the network adapters on your working computer, and connecting the two computers together with an ethernet cable. The exact method of doing so varies somewhat between versions of Windows. If you tell me what version your working laptop is running I can give you specific instructions.

Jeb,

if you take the laptop with you to Starbucks or to MacDonald's can you get on the internet there using the network adapter in the laptop?

Evidently, you presently have access to the internet from some device.

From that device you can download what you need, put it onto a usb stick, take to your problem computer, and install there. This is what is known as Sneaker Net.

Tks all -

Have completed the Ccleaner reg. and cleaner. Then ran revo and tried again to delete the ATT comm manager - it kept coming up as complete but the ATT icon was still showing in revo - not anywhere else. Ran the revo scan and it brought up a ton of files - went through and deleted all that had ATT in them but not any of the others. Some were Serria Wireless which I think has to do with the Att comm manager.

Now the Att icon is gone from revo. Rebooted, ran the ATT comm manager install as admin. but it still comes up as a later version is installed and stops the install.

Will try to download the install update to an 8gb flash drive on this computer and tnx to the other one.

Question - after I download the install update, does the win 7 disc automatically pick it up?

Tks all - jb

If you want to avoid performing a reinstall of Win 7, see post #30.

Still waiting for the answer. This is not the thoroughness required to solve an issue like this. You might as well reinstall if you're not going to be utterly thorough on your end. But then you'll likely miss steps and end up with an inferior install anyway.

Karl, I think this is what you wanted.

After running Ccleaner and Revo the ATT program seems to be gone from everywhere except the icon was still on Revo. However, when I do a scan on revo it came up with a bunch of files - I selected all that had ATT in them and deleted them. I did not delete any that did not have ATT in them.

I still get the same "later version" message when I try to reinstall the ATT program.

Since there is no longer an ATT icon in Revo, I can not do a scan to find what might be left. - jb
