    Hi

    RAM is way to small for W7 Ultimate x64 install
    windows Update is failing repeatedly, likely due to the fact its a non-genuine install, which MS has likely picked up on
    (Retail motherboard (Pre W7??) -- OEM product key....)

    No further help can be provided until a genuine licence has been purchased

    I also like windows 7 very much.

    I just installed fresh not long ago.

    Windows would not let me update because they ceased that long time ago I'm guessing?

    So I have this fresh Windows installed but no windows updates installed.

    I am able to use the browsers though.

    @TechSeven

    not true, there is a caveat..... a certain SSU stack update "stalls" it try manually installing KB 3138612.

    if that doesn't work please start your own thread and run/copy/paste the output of the tool here

    appears to be an OEM key
    so it's non-transferable

    OP did not say which "edition" of Windows 7 was installed on that person's computer

    for which edition? a license for Win7 home premium for example is only valid for home premium and not valid for other editions like pro and ultimate
