    Snipping Tool won't save - Windows 7 Ultimate x64

    Hi There,
I always use the Windows 7 Snipping Tool and for some reason I can't save the snips anymore. It allows me to save to desktop, or anywhere else on my computer, but then no file appears. No picture, no file.... I'm totally confused.
Anyone have any insight on this? Your help is much appreciated.
First time user... I've spent hours trying to fix this and have had no luck.

Happens occasionally. Did to me as well which is why I moved to Snaggit and haven't looked back. I didn't find a solution other than to re-install win 7

OK. I'm giving Snagit a shot... You would think something like this wouldn't happen with the snipping tool, it's such a simple program with the bare minimum amount of features. Probably the first problem I've had with Window 7 and it's stock software.

I tried Snagit and it's a perfect solution for what I need. Thanks for the suggestion Zigzag!
Unfortunate that it's a somewhat expensive program for what it is... but would rather pay to have something reliable.

    Paste snip into paint

Just paste the snippet into paint with CTRL V and save in paint.

I know this is an old post but just wondering if you installed any software prior to this problem? I had a problem with Rapport software blocking my screen captures but unchecked the box and now the snippet works again.

My Pictures folder needs to be there for snipping tool to work

Ok, first post here goes: I had this problem with the snipping tool and it was really irritating, wouldn't save and all. After reading a whole bunch of junk about this odd "HKEY....." thing, and some stuff talking about the registry not pointing to the My Pictures folder, I got it to work by dragging my "My Pictures" folder from where I had put it (and I don't remember moving it but I guess I must have) back into the main spot [user-name] where it has "Contacts" "Desktop" "Downloads" "Favorites" "My Documents" "My Music" "My Videos," etc. Once I put the My Pictures folder back in there, the Snipping Tool worked again.

Hopefully this saves someone a few minutes and some frustration.
