Compatibility mode fails again and again

I've had compatibility mode fail me on ...

USB electronic scale and its drivers
HP All-in-one printer (specifically the scanner)
Pampered Partner Plus (pampered chef consultant software)

I must be doing something wrong, but it's so straight forward. If on disc I copy the programs to a folder or download it from the manufacturer's site.

Is this normal? Compatibility mode has been completely useless if I've been using it correctly.

Yeah, my wife is threatening to uninstall 7 so she can install her Pampered Partner Plus program (as a Pampered Chef Consultant). It's her computer, but I like the homegroup functionality we had going.

My wife is doing the same. One thing to check out... run a virtual machine on your computer with Win 7 installed and reinstall your old system on it (incase you dont know what a virtual machine (VM) is, it basically runs a different version of windows under your current system). You simply open up the VM, and have Pampered Plus installed under that link. Its just an extra click that can save our wives from denying us our Win 7 experience!

A recommended free virtual machine / link: http://www.vmware.com/products/player/

(Addition: I was also notified of MS Virtual PC: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ )

Otherwise, I agree, I am really liking the speed and overall change Win 7 has provided.

Let me know how that works. I will be installing it tonight as I just got 7 for my personal laptop.

(Disclaimer: I have not yet installed this but was recommended it by my IT guy. So use at your own risk, but I have used similar things on other systems and they worked fine. I see no reason for it not working on Win 7) I will follow up with this post once I get it running on my system to let everyone know. Hope this helps ~

I think Pampered partner plus is working on 7 now. A month after I wrote that they updated the software. She ended up getting a netbook for her shows anyway.

I recently gave up on Windows and switched to mac. There are still bugs, but it's a fresh start.
