    Boot manager problem

Have revamped my old Desktop 1 with a new CPU - Athlon 260 8GGB RAM a Samsung 930 SSD and Coolermaster TX3 to send to my brother in the UK.

Am also going to put in a Samsung Spinpoint 500GB HDD for data transfer etc

However on power up it runs through the devices and runs through the post process which ends in a message BOOTMGR is missing.

Am using the OEM disk that the original builder sent with the machine ( a pre-built I had for a spare).

Have set the BIOS to ACHI and - which it was before and the optical for the first boot device but it keeps stalling at this message and Ctrl/Alt /Del to start again.

Am at a loss as to what is wrong anyone point me in some sort of direction please as I thought this would be a straight forward swap of components and reinstall.

Oh and have tried new cables and a brand new optical drive but with the same result.

What exactly is this installation disc you were using. That did not sound like a normal Win7 installation disc.

And di you disconnect all HDDs during the installation whilst you were installing on the SSD.

Hiyya Wolfganag yes mate I only had the SSD in as the HDD is still wiping on the other machine.

The disk is a genuine one although it is a pre SP1 disk and I bought the machine form my usual dealer PCCG is Melbourne where I get my OEM's from anyway.

Hiyya Wolfgang Have found the problem through a Google - my Gigabyte BIOS has a first boot device choice of CD-ROM and if one scrolls down that list there is the installed DVD optical.

Set it as first boot device and it's loading:)

It wasn't very clear at first until I saw someone with a similar problem and that setting was mentioned and see the CD-ROM and still nothing happened so then just idly tapped the down arrow in that setting and the list started to scroll down - I thought it was only the devices listed when first accessed. The scroll bar wasn't very distinct to sat the least!

Yes mate it is something you look at all the time but don't see it like the wood and the trees eh?

I am actually looking forward to having go at this EUFI stuff with the next build when I get a break from fixing.
