3rd Party apps that make it even better...

For all I know, there is already an post like this. I did a little searching, but did not find anything however, so I am posting my own. The following are the apps that I have been running with Windows 7, that make it even better. If anyone has anything they would like to contribute, please do so!!

ImageResizer= for easy resizing of images:

Image Resizer Powertoy Clone for Windows - Home

RocketDock - creates a nice little dock in addition to taskbar

    Download RocketDock - RocketDock.com

Objectdock - another dock program for those like me, who need more than one dock..

    Stardock ObjectDock

Remove shortcut arrow - gets rid of annoying shortcut arrow on desktop icons

takeownership - A nice little reg hack that lets you take ownership of objects by simply right clicking on them..

The next two apps were a great help getting my machine all cleaned up and organized prior to the Install.. New OS, with a tidy file system.

d-filemu - a nice little app that lets you rename groups of files and folders in one simple step..

Download D-FileMU 1.7.6 - D-FileMU is a tool that enables you to make changes to filenames of a number of files quickly and easily - Softpedia

Like others, I found the following site ruled for getting the new fresh looking wall papers..

    InterfaceLIFT: Wallpaper sorted by Date

Teracopy makes transferring of files quicker, and also de-mistifies where Windows is at on progress.. you get a much clearer picture of what windows is chomping on, as opposed to the vague progress bar bundled with win7.

Copy your files faster with TeraCopy

Even though Win 7 is supposedly great at releasing memory, I found this to not always be the case. The following program, runs periodically in the back ground, and frees up memory.. If you find your machine suddenly using 5gb of ram, with no explanation, install this little gem.. you will never even know it is there..

This is good for now.. Thought others might benefit from these programs, and I am hoping to get schooled on a few more. If you found some cool app that makes things better, post to this thread please!! Take care y'all!!

We knew about most of these already, but make sure you add these to the list JFar linked here.

Hmmm.. looking over that link.. most are apps I have no interest in. I was not looking to list freeware, rather to list apps specifically that make it better.. There are lots of freeware lists out on the web. Gizmo Richards has the best I have seen...

I did a bit of research on CleanMem.. Apparently, there are multiple trojans out there that have disguised themselves as Cleanmem.exe, which has caused it to be blacklisted. The name of the file is not important, rather what it does. Do a little searching, and you can find plenty of trustworthy sources that can testify to the programs merit.
